When Missy is not serving schools or in her cubicle, you find her in her pool reading or in her garden harvesting for the zombie apocalypse, if it is football season, she’s not available if LSU tigers or SAINTS are playing, but most likely you will find Missy with her family, which includes eight grandchildren. Angela Williams
|
Angela Williams- Palm Beach County
A migrant from Georgia to Florida, I am a proud graduate of the Irwin County School System. As resident of the Sunshine State, I am a proud graduate of Florida Atlantic University, Nova Southeastern University and Barry University. Before I became an educator for seven years, I worked as a dental assistant, for both the private and public sector in Palm Beach County. Later, I made a career change to join the education system as a behavior interventionist. Three years later, I became employed as an educator at Roosevelt Community Middle School, where I served for twenty years. At Roosevelt Middle School (RMS), I worked in several capacities and held multiple leadership roles. As a teacher, I was an inclusion teacher, social studies teacher, an Exceptional Student Educator teacher, as well as a Teaching Student of Other Languages (TSOL) teacher. My leadership roles included a Clinical Educator, Department Instructional Leader, Team Leader, Afterschool Program Director, Athletic Director, and Athletic Coach. Most recently, during my last three years at RMS, I initiated an after school Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Program known as DREAM Girls. In the Fall of SY21, l transitioned to Northmore Elementary School where I served as the Media Specialist for three years. Now, I have taken my talent to U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts. My goal outside the classroom is the same as it was in the classroom: to empower and educate students at different levels keeping student engagement and teacher development needs in mind. My commitment to education is evident by my many years of service to the School District of Palm Beach County. It is a daily charge to make a difference in every students’ life that I come in contact with, but by making sure the students are equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and support to be successful beyond the classroom, I, in effect, develop a life- long love for reading and the ability to compete in the global economy. Beyond the classroom, I feel that is also my duty to be actively involved in my community. I am a member of the American Business Women Association, Education Media Association, Florida Association in Media for Educators, Women Foundation of Florida, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and National Coalition of 100 Black Women where I have served on several committees that have had a profound effect on all stakeholders of the Palm Beach County area. I have shared my experience, knowledge, and resources to assist with the Nominating Committee for FAME. As member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, I have chair the Enhance of Environment for the past three years. In addition, I have served as the treasurer for the Educational Media Association of PBC. |
