Administrators Advocacy Award


2021 Administrators Advocacy Award Winner:

Description:
​This award recognizes a district administrator, director, superintendent, or supervisor who has made dynamic and significant contributions to the promotion or effective school library media programs and services. It recognizes the significance of the role of the district administrator in developing successful school library media programs within their own school district that impacts the community at large. The award is intended to highlight and encourage administrative support of school libraries, which is central to the FAME mission.

Criteria:
District administrators, directors, superintendents, or supervisors currently in administrative office and directly responsible for schools in their district, are eligible for nomination by a member of FAME. Testimonials by the nominator and three additional school librarians must be submitted, as well as supporting documentation such as newspaper articles, school committee minutes, quotes, budget figures, meeting agendas or other documents that together illustrate that the nominee consistently advocates for school library programs, recognizes the need for certified school library personnel, appropriate support personnel and supports the central role of the school librarian in developing effective school library programs that promote student achievement. The honoree will receive a plaque and be recognized at the annual FAME conference.


Application Steps:
•Step 1: Complete and submit online the NOMINATION FORM (below) to nominate an administrator for the award. The nominator will be assigned a confirmation number to use in all documents submitted for the nominee. Please remember to record this number and use it for all additional documentation and contact. Any subsequent documents must use only the confirmation number as identification. Any documents that contain the name of the nominee, the names of the media centers or librarians submitting the application, or the district will not be accepted. The NOMINATION FORM is due by May 6, 2022. The confirmation number will be assigned by May 15, 2022.

•Step 2: Four TESTIMONIALS (below) of no more than 300 words each in length should be submitted by the nominating librarians. TESTIMONIALS and optional documentation such as newspaper articles, committee minutes, meeting agendas, quotes, budget figures or other documents are due by May 27, 2022.
