Secondary Principal: Amy Rappleyea, Principal, Barrington Middle School, Hillsborough County Public Schools, nominated by Kathleen Daniels
This award recognizes one elementary and one secondary school principal or assistant principal who have demonstrated support in the development of exemplary school library media programs and/or to promote principals who support the integration of school library media programs, resources and technologies into the total educational process, and/or to honor principals who implement research-based library media programs.
Principals Award (Elementary)
Principals or assistant principals currently in office and directly responsible for a PreK-8 school or a group of PreK-8 schools at any elementary level are eligible for nomination by their school library media specialist, provided the media specialist is certified by the State of Florida, is a member of FAME and is employed in a PreK-8 school in Florida.
The honoree will receive a plaque and will be recognized at the annual FAME conference.

Principals or assistant principals currently in office and directly responsible for a middle or high school or a group of middle or high schools at any secondary level are eligible for nomination by their school librarian, provided the librarian is certified by the State of Florida, is a member of FAME, and is employed in a middle or high school in Florida.
The honoree will receive a plaque and will be recognized at the annual FAME conference.
Principals or assistant principals currently in office and directly responsible for a middle or high school or a group of middle or high schools at any secondary level are eligible for nomination by their school librarian, provided the librarian is certified by the State of Florida, is a member of FAME, and is employed in a middle or high school in Florida.
The honoree will receive a plaque and will be recognized at the annual FAME conference.
Application Steps:
- Step 1: Complete and submit online the NOMINATIONS FORM (below) to nominate a principal or assistant principal for the award. The applicant will be assigned a confirmation number. Please remember to record this number and use it for all additional documentation and contact. Any subsequent application or testimonials must use only the confirmation number as identification. Any documents that contain the name of the nominee, the media center or the school will not be accepted. The NOMINATIONS FORM is due by April 30, 2023. The confirmation number will be assigned by April 30, 2023.
- Step 2: Up to three TESTIMONIALS (below) of no more than 300 words each in length should be submitted by participants, observers or stakeholders. TESTIMONIALS might include how the principal or assistant principal demonstrated support in the development of exemplary school library media programs and/or supported the integration of school library media programs, resources and technologies into the total educational process, and/or helped to implement research-based library media programs. All TESTIMONIALS are due by May 31, 2023.
